A bunion is a deformity of the big toe joint that forms when the toe moves out of place and begins to crowd the lesser toes. The growing enlargement can become irritated and inflamed and lead to other toe deformities (hammer toes, claw toes) or inflammatory conditions such as matatarsalgia or Morton's Neuroma.

Treatment is twofold: first, to halt the progressive growth of the bunion and second to relieve the discomfort. We can assist in evaluating your needs (ie: footwear, custom orthotics etc.).

In some cases however, depending on the severity of the misalignment and pain experienced, bunion surgery may be advised to remove the bunion and re-align the toe.
